Get Ready for the 1st Annual Baja Roots Music Festival happening this weekend, Oct 13th thru Oct 15th, at the infamous Las Rocas Resort at K38 in Rosarito, Baja California.

Only 45 minutes from San Diego, the three day all ages festival is presented by Baja Angels of the Sea to benefit the  City of Refuge Hacienda orphanage and women’s shelter.

Beginning with a dinner hosted by Tijuana native Chef Santos Axel Chavira Robles, the festival will include live reggae music. Scheduled performers include Eek-A-Mouse, Big Mountain, Tomorrows Bad Seeds, and many more. The emcees for the weekend are Ras Mike, Alfredo Haro, and John E Rockers. Live on-stage art — influenced by the musical performances — will be auctioned for the cause in between acts.

Big Mountain’s lead singer x Baja Roots co-founder, Joaquin “Quino” McWhinney, says:  “I’ve lived in Baja California for almost 12 years and have always dreamed of having a world music festival that brought bands from both sides of the border together.

Last year, I began working with the Baja Angels of the Sea. We planned a benefit event for the orphanage that they work with. My friend, Bruno Barbieri, the director of Baja Angels, proposed earlier this year that we try to put a real music festival together. As fate would have it, we put the right team together and all of a sudden the festival was born.

Schedule:

Friday – VIP dinner and wine pairing with Chef Santos Axel Chavira Robles. 8pm – 1 am

Saturday – All Day Festival 11am – 1am with a VIP Lounge x Live Art auctions

Sunday – 11am – 4pm Pool Party with live DJs + special guests
