Puff, puff, pass, the suburban city of La Mesa, located nine miles east of Downtown San Diego, had two cannabis dispensaries open on the same day.

Located a mile from each other on El Cajon Blvd (not far from San Diego State University,) the dispensaries are no strangers to the weed game.

San Diego-based URBN LEAF, with five locations in Southern California, opened a new boutique at 7339 El Cajon Boulevard on Thursday, July 9th.

That same day, Cookies, a cannabis brand launched by rap artist Berner in Oakland, opened its first San Diego location at 7935 El Cajon Blvd.

If La Mesa’s civic motto is the “Jewel of the Hills,” expect that to be changed to the “Jewel of the Herb” or “Jewel of the Hippie Lettuce” anytime soon.

In related news, March and Ash, San Diego’s best cannabis dispensary is opening a new location in City Heights this fall.
