Hugo’s Tacos announced Sunday that both of its Los Angeles locations, Studio City and Atwater Village, are closing due to constant battles with anti-maskers.
Despite statewide mandates, “staff have been harassed, called names, and had objects and liquids thrown at them,” Hugo’s ownership said in a twitter statement. “A mask isn’t symbolic of anything other than our desire to keep our staff healthy.”

In the wake of the closures, a GoFundMe has also been launched to help employees. It currently hovers at $30,000.
The statement continued:
“Both of our locations are going to take a break and recharge. We’ve loved serving you for the last 15 years and hope the LA community comes together on this issue so we can feel safe and reopen soon.”
