Raw, volatile, vulnerable, and intimate, those are adjectives often used to describe Brooklyn’s Big Thief. If this band is not on your radar, fix that immediately. Anchored by the authentic songwriting of singer/guitarist Adrianne Lenker, the indie rock darlings have released four albums since 2016, two in the last year alone.
Their latest, Two Hands, is Big Thief’s second phenomenal LP of the year. A rawer, more rocking album compared to the atmospheric U.F.O.F. (from May 2019,) Lenker said via statement, “Two Hands has the songs that I’m the most proud of; I can imagine myself singing them when I’m old.”
In celebration of the new record, Big Thief performed “Not,” Two Hands‘ first single, Thursday night on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. It’s a must-see performance you can watch below.
Big Thief’s North American tour runs through mid-November and stops at The Observatory Santa Ana, Wednesday, October 30. Then, they are off to Europe.
