Looking for a place to surf & stay while at Coachella? DSRT Surf at Desert Willow Golf Resort will have YEW covered.  A new, “world-class destination surf resort” coming to Palm Desert in 2021, the $200 million project will include a 270-room hotel, 45 villas, restaurants, retail, and a 5.5-acre surfing lagoon.

Developed by Desert Wave Ventures, consisting of former Solana Beach mayor Doug Sheres and investors, the surf resort has tapped pro surfers the Hobgood brothers, Josh Kerr and Shane Beschen as ambassadors.

“We are a unique team in that we collectively have experience spanning real estate development, surf lagoon development, the surf industry, and are all lifelong dedicated surfers,” Sheres told the Desert Sun.

DSRT Surf with be utilising Wavegarden Cove technology for the man-made wave. This groundbreaking technology replicates the water particle movement of ocean ground swells.  Even crazier, wave shape and size can be adjusted at the push of a button.

With plans to break ground later this year, Palm Desert officials couldn’t be more pumped about DSRT Surf.

“This surf resort has the opportunity to be a regional economic driver that makes the Coachella Valley a year-round tourism destination combining outdoor recreation, hospitality and an internationally popular and growing sport – surfing – in a naturally beautiful setting that enjoys 350 days of sunshine a year,” said Martin Alvarez, economic development director for the city. “It is very exciting.”
