Kids, if you’re a fan of Veronica Mars, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, or Disney’s Frozen, you might want to sit down. We have something to tell you.
Kristen Bell, the forking awesome star of The Good Place, smokes weed in front of her husband, fellow actor Dax Shepard, who just happens to be in recovery for the past 14 years.
We’ll pause a moment while you collectively gasp.
If you haven’t gasped yet, the group at CBS’s The Talk added fuel to the fire:
Kristen Bell vapes weed around Dax Shepard, even though he's sober. If you were sober, would you expect your spouse to be? #EverybodyTalks pic.twitter.com/ExBIGdBQb5

There were various reactions you can see from the thread, both supporting the actress and damning her for all eternity. Shepard himself, however, had the most YEW-worthy reaction a husband could have:
That would be like a diabetic expecting their partner to never eat dessert. Get real! https://t.co/2X6WzhH2cT

When Mommy and Daddy need a drink
Cannabis consumption, particularly among parents, has become more common recently. Many of these parents compare it to having a beer or cocktail at the end of a hard day. Bell herself went on the defensive, saying she only does it once a week, if that, and never in front of the kids. Would there be this much criticism, however, if she were enjoying a glass of chardonnay by the pool? Many cannabis consumers would like to see this double-standard go away and are trying to end the stigma that cannabis is taboo. They feel that if it’s OK for kids to see their parents drunk off their asses, why shouldn’t getting high be OK, too?
Cannabis and Addiction
As for addiction, there are currently studies to see if cannabis can be used to treat opioid addiction. Recovering addicts are given the tools they need to maintain their sobriety. They have a support system in place to help them if they begin to stumble in their sobriety. In Shepard’s case, Bell is extremely supportive and recently shared a beautiful post celebrating his 14th year in recovery:
Dax Shepard, we salute yew!
