In March 2019, Carmelita’s San Diego will be landing at Park 12, a new mixed-use space across from Petco Park in the East Village of San Diego.
Officially named Carmelita’s Kitchen de Mexico, the 30-year old family business started in Sacramento before expanding to Southern California (in 2012) with locations in Laguna Beach and Rancho Santa Margarita. This is the first location in San Diego.
Serving fresh, authentic Mexican food (with an emphasis on seafood,) Carmelita’s also makes its own tortillas and salsa “made to order.” Signature dishes, or crowd favorites, include the Queso Fundido, melted cheese mixed with bacon and chorizo, Seafood Trio (pictured above,) and the Tampiquena Skirt Steak with Cheese Enchiladas.
Also, we would be remiss not to mention their insane margs with special nods to the Grilled Pineapple and Chile margarita and La Sandia, with juicy watermelon.
See YEW in the East Village next spring.
