Our homies at Del Mar just announced the 2018 Del Mar Racetrack Summer Concert Series lineup Wednesday morning, and it’s a diverse mix of radness that starts Friday, July 20th.
80s icons The Psychedelic Furs — experiencing a nice resurgence after their 1984 smash “The Ghost in You” was featured in the second season of Stranger Things — kick things off opening weekend, followed by a trifecta of reggae acts including Iration, Steel Pulse, and Matisyahu over the next three weeks.
Acclaimed artist Aloe Blacc makes his debut appearance where the surf meets the turf, Friday, August 10th, piggy-backed by Del Mar regular Ziggy Marley, the next day. Son of a bitch, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats performs the following week (8/17,) followed by award-winning San Diego reggae group Tribal Seeds (8/24) and legendary rock en espanol band Cafe Tacvba (8/31.)
Noticeably missing from the 2018 Del Mar Racetrack Summer Concert Series lineup are track regulars Weezer, but, filling in the gap and closing out the series in an epic way, legendary rapper ICE CUBE on Sunday, September 2nd. YEW!
All concerts take place after the last races of the day and are always free for patrons of the track — otherwise, tickets are $30 after the last race. For more information, please visit DMTC.com.
