Afghan Skater Girls Inspire Culture That Bans Women

YEW! These rad Afghan Skater Girls are learning to skateboard while inspiring other girls to get active in a culture that bans women from outdoor activities and sports.

Skateistan is a nonprofit organization that uses skateboarding and education to help empower kids and also aims to address gender-based inequality wherever it exists.  In Afghanistan, where as much as 40% of skateboarders are women and girls, the program thrives — encouraging girls to pick up the sport, build self-esteem and friendships, get active, and ride on.
