Vissla‘s annual Creators & Innovators Epicycle Contest — or, recycled surfboard contest — pronounced Taylor Lane of Santa Cruz the winner for his entry of a surfboard filled with 10,000 cigarette butts.
Lane spent the summer collecting the butts during beach cleanups in central California, then incorporated them into the board, with recycled Styrofoam, to create a a 5’4 twin fin fish. Here’s a look at his amazing creation:
