Beginning July 10th, alternative radio veteran Chris Cantore will host “YEW! RADIO” on KX 93.5 FM in Laguna Beach from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m., weekday mornings.

Known for his time at 91X, KPRi, and FM949 in San Diego, Cantore will handpick his own daily playlist combining classic with new alternative. Additionally, he will infuse personalities from the YEW! network (including action sports star Chris Coté,) as well as features like “Mandatory Marley.”

“After 25 years in San Diego commercial radio, I’m beyond stoked to be collaborating with the team at KX 93.5, a non-profit,” said Cantore. “In addition to sharing the same radio philosophies and musical taste, they’re just smart, passionate, rad people committed to doing good in the community.”

Cantore became acquainted with KX 93.5 after seeking a place to host a tribute show to Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell on the day of his passing, May 18, 2017. KX 93.5 Founder and Program Director Tyler Russell loved Cantore’s tribute and became excited about collaborative possibilities.

“I’m an ex corporate radio personality like Chris,” said Russell. “We both share the mentality that radio should be more freeform, more dedicated to the listener, and less of a 40-song juxebox. We’re very glad to give Chris the opportunity to play and do whatever he wants!”

The show will air live on 93.5 FM in Laguna Beach, on www.KX935.com on a web browser, or on a KX 93.5 smartphone app. It will also be available by Podcast through KX935.com or YEWradio.com
